Other Names and Claims of Christ

In addition to the descriptions found in "The Identity of Christ" page, the following names and claims of Jesus Christ are found in the Bible (NIV), along with their verse and chapter references. Italics are added for emphasis. "Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel which means God with us."   Isaiah 7:14 "... Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature (in the form of) God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made Himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled himself and became obedient to death- even death on a cross!"   Philippians 2:5-8 "... we are in Him who is true- even in His Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life."   1 John 5:20 "... Jesus Christ, who is the faithful Witness, the Firstborn from the dead, and the Ruler of the kings of the earth."   Revelation 1:5 "Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."   Philippians 2:9-11 "Theirs are the patriarchs, and from them is traced the human ancestry of Christ, who is God over all, forever praised! Amen."    Romans 9:5 "Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever.
